Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. I love spending time with my extended family, gorging myself with turkey, gravy, stuffing and pies, and being Thankful for all that God has blessed me with.

I will be out of bed early on Thanksgiving morning to run in the local Turkey Trot 5k. It is my first 5k in almost five years. I'm not sure I'll be able to run the whole thing, there might be some walking involved, but I will finish it. My motivation will be the three pieces of pie I will have later in the day: Chocolate Pecan, Apple and Pumpkin.

Thankfully, I am not in charge of cooking the big meal, but I am baking the Chocolate Pecan pie. I am also taking drinks and dinner rolls.

My husband will spend the day watching his beloved Cowboys and pouring over the Black Friday flyers. He has already checked online sites for the deals and has started making a list. He mostly looks for deals on office supplies for our business, than actual Christmas presents. He is usually one of the crazy people out the door at 4 am on Friday morning. He loves it, I don't. I sleep. My dislike of Black Friday comes mostly from my 13 years spent working in retail in my previous career.

On Saturday, we will start to decorate the house for Christmas. My daughter is very excited about getting the train out and setting it up around the Christmas tree. I'll decorate the tree and hang the stockings with the help from my kids. My husband will hang the outdoor lights. He doesn't go overboard though. We have two pre-light trees that flank our front door and he puts a spotlight on the front door to showcase the wreath and the trees...very pretty and simple.

How are you spending Thanksgiving? Are you hosting a big group? Have you been cooking and baking all week? Are you planning your strategy for Friday?

Thank you for taking the time to read my little blog. I enjoy hearing from you in the comments and email.

I wish you all a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.
