I'm Kristia. I write about family finances, food, home-management, and family life. I'm also running my first half-marathon in October 2011...pray for me.
Why the name, Family Balance Sheet?
My husband and I are self-employed. Our income fluctuates. We have had amazing years and we have had really scary years. The amazing years are SOOO much better.
I have a corporate background in Retail Buying, but in 2005 after the birth of our first daughter, we made the joint decision that I would be a stay-at-home mom. I would also assist my husband with the accounting/financial areas of our business, but I could do it from our home computer.
At this time, I also took on the role of the Family Office Manager. I needed a way to communicate our financial snapshot to my husband, so I devised an excel spreadsheet that I called our Balance Sheet. Please click the following link for more information about the Family Balance Sheet and a FREE offer of the excel spreadsheet.
It's now 2011, we have a second daughter and I am still blessed that I am able to primarily be at home with my kids. It's not always easy, sometimes we think about the things we could do/have with a second outside income. But we also don't regret the decision one bit and we know this is what is best for our family.
Personal finance has always been an interest of mine and I will write a lot from my family's perspective. Most of the posts include personal stories about how my family is striving to improve our own Family Balance Sheet and find Financial Freedom.
Posting Schedule
- Monday's Recipe -Each week, I post a delicious recipe that is not budget-busting. I also try to use fresh ingredients and items that are usually found in any pantry.
- Tuesday through Friday - I will post 2-3 articles about family finances, frugal living and home-management.
I welcome comments, feedback, ideas, or advertising/PR inquiries or opportunities, please email me at familybalancesheet at gmail dot com.
I am not a financial professional, just a wife and mom who would rather read personal finance blogs than watch Desperate Housewives, so please consult a professional if you think that you are in need of professional advice.
