I’m about to date myself, but I remember the hoopla that happened in the 80’s when a young Brooke Shields was hawking Calvin Klein jeans and said, “do you know what comes between me and my Calvins? nothing.” The Calvin Klein blue jeans craze quickly ensued, but the jeans were completely out of my parent’s budget.
Fast forward to 2013 and Calvin Klein jeans are still out of my budget. But this time, it’s my choice. They range between $40-$50 and I’m not about to spend that kind of money on blue jeans. I love blue jeans and wear them quite a bit, but $40-$50 is much too salty for my taste these days and the main reason is because I can BUY THEM FOR $3!
I just love my local thrift store.
Really, Brooke was on to something back in the day. These jeans fit like a glove and they don’t scream “mom jeans”. They were MADE for ME! I love them. But I’m still not going to spend $40-$50 bucks for them.
I’ll spend $3.
And for the record there is one thing that comes between me and my jeans…and his name ain’t Calvin!
And…in other thrifting news, I found these hardly worn K Swiss Classic leather sneakers for my youngest daughter who is in dire need of sneakers. They were also $3. At retail, they are about $40.
Do second hand shoes make you go “ewwwww”? These sneakers were in great condition and by all appearances were hardly worn. Because they are leather, I didn’t wash in the washing machine like I have done with other 2nd hand sneakers, but I did wipe down the inside soles and outside with warm sudsy water.
Designer jeans and name brand sneakers, both in like new condition, and both of them were $3 each. That my friends is a double score!
