In the month of October, my challenge will be to find $1000.  Mondays thru Saturdays in October, I will have ideas to help you find $1000 too. On Sundays, we’ll meet here to catch our breath, and let everyone know how we’re finding our $1000.

Have a Yard Sale

Round up that clutter, because October is a great month to have a yard sale. If we want to find $1000 in October then we’re going to have to sell some stuff. And my favorite way to sell clutter is to have a yard sale.

Our neighbors are downsizing and moving, so they are having a yard sale in late October before they leave. I’m going to participate with them, because I’m on the bold mission to find $1000 this month and selling our junk will help us reach our goal.

So scour every drawer, closet, shelf, and room and round up your clutter together. If you haven’t worn it, read it, or used it in a year or more, it’s time to get rid of it! Be relentless and let go of your clutter.

You have time to have a yard sale this month, so read my 7 Tips for a Successful Yard Sale to help you pull it together. I’ve been organizing my neighborhood’s annual yard sale for years and we’ve always been able to get rid of clutter and make a little cash at the same time.

7 Tips for a Successful Yard Sale

Will you host a yard sale this month? I purposely planned this post early in the month, so you have time to pull one together. Let us know all about it in the comments.

For more ideas, follow me on Pinterest. I have started a 31 Days to Find $1000 Pinterest board where I’ll be posting ideas all month long.

Not sure I’ll have a yard sale as they’re pretty rare in Minnesota in October, but I think I’ll go through clothing and books that I can sell at local resale shops that pay cash for your stuff upfront. There’s always more to declutter!
