Our sweet Ruby has assimilated into our family quite well. She’s such an easy dog. She rarely barks, rolls straight to her back for belly rubs every time you approach her, and she immediately knew her bathroom was our back yard, not our living room floor. She’s a keeper for sure!
Our only problem, however, is her inability to walk on a leash. She’s a puller. One neighbor asked if I was walking the dog or if the dog was walking me–it was that bad. And if she saw a bunny (and if you didn’t know, we live in bunnyville) Ruby would take off dragging her human with her.
It only took a few seconds of online research to discover the Gentle Leader head collar. It was a low cost investment and it came with a training dvd for my husband and I to understand how to use the collar properly. For us, the results were incredible. There is definitely a training period as Ruby needs to get used to the feel of the new collar, but she stopped pulling almost immediately. We found the best price for the Gentle Leader Headcollar at Amazon (that is my affiliate link) at around $8 less than the big box pet store.
Ruby isn’t a big fan of the new collar, but she LOVES her walks more, so it’s staying!
The girls and I hit my favorite thrift store this week. As usual, I found some great deals. Both girls got new (to them) sneakers and they were thrilled. My youngest got super cute, colorful, and hardly worn Adidas sneakers. And my oldest daughter got her first pair of Converse sneakers. They were also hardly worn and my daughter was thrilled. The sneakers cost me $2.50 each. If used shoes creep you out, never fear, just wash them. I threw both pairs in the washing machine and dried them out in the sun.
