Welcome to 31 Days to Organize Your Finances. By the end of the month, my goal is to help you have a detailed financial plan for your family. We’ll talk about cash flow, budgets, debts, and all of the nitty gritty of our finances that might not be fun to talk about, but are so important to discuss. Please refer back to the original post for a complete list of daily assignments.
On days 1 & 2, we created our own balance sheet and wrote our S.M.A.R.T. financial goals. Today we will start to get into the nuts and bolts of our budget.
Today’s assignment will be quick and easy: Calculate how much money is flowing IN.
How much do you have to work with when we start working on the budget. So grab your pay stubs and/or bank statements and calculate how much cash is flowing in each month.
Not enough cash flowing in? Read last year’s 31 Days to Find $1000 for ideas. Also, go to 31 Days to Organize Your Finances to read all of the posts in this series.

Herein lies the challenge for us. Our income is inconsistent and unreliable. I wonder if you can do future posts on what to do in our situation.

Heather – I hear ya! I will definitely consider some posts on this topic. In the meantime, have you read any of Dave Ramsey’s advice on this topic: http://www.daveramsey.com/article/how-to-budget-an-irregular-income/lifeandmoney_budgeting/
