I wish I could report to you that my husband and I ROCK our spending plan every month, but that is just simply not the case. Maintaining our monthly budget is a daily process and there are days when we get it right and then there are days when we…I fail miserably.
Where We Saved Money this Week:
I spent last weekend freezer cooking 8 recipes. I’m not sure I’ll plan to make so many meals at one time again, but it sure is nice to have them in my freezer. This process should help me save money and time on our groceries.
My husband and I had a hot date at Starbucks during their Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion (Nov 12-16, 2-5 pm). I also used a gift card that I received LAST Christmas, making our drinks FREE. We don’t normally frequent Starbucks through out the year, but I couldn’t pass up this promotion. I don’t care for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but I LOVE Peppermint Mochas and they taste even better when they’re free.
I signed up for Giant Food Stores email newsletter and received $5 off my grocery bill.
While at Giant, I received my coupon for a FREE turkey. There was some debate online if these free turkey promotions are worth it since you have to spend a certain amount of money at one store within a certain time frame. I don’t have trouble with this, because I do the majority of my food shopping at Giant.
Do you take advantage of your grocery store’s free turkey promotions?
Giant rocked this week! They have gas promotions where you can earn cents off gas through out the month. They sweeten the deal throughout the month with coupons that double gas points when you spend at least $50, which I do weekly. So after I received my free turkey coupon, I realized that I had 90 cents off of gas and since I was on empty, I filled my van up right away. So I paid $2.03 per gallon this week on gas. When was the last time you spent $2.03/gallon for gas? The late 90’s, maybe??
And Where I FAILED:
BANGS head on desk…I completely missed the free phone promotion at Verizon (our phone carrier). Had I gone to the store when my husband told me to, I would have gotten a NEW iPhone 6 for FREE. But miss smarty pants completely forgot about it and now needs to pay $100 for a new phone.
FREE vs. $100 = a big fat FAIL.
Where did you rock your budget this week? And where did you fail?

Don’t be too hard on yourself! I love your hot date and Starbucks! Hope it was a good one!
