Turkey Hill Dairy is practically in my back yard and we have been eating their ice cream and drinking their teas for years. So I was really excited to be invited to work with the company to help promote a new product. Recently Turkey Hill became the first major ice cream brand to offer an All Natural Gelato.
Inspired by Italian gelato recipes, Turkey Hill All Natural Gelato is made with simple ingredients like milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. All Natural Gelato has less air than most ice cream, giving it a denser, richer texture.
With the temperatures heating up, All Natural Gelato makes a cool summer treat and I wanted a topping that was simple, delicious, and also all natural. I wanted to use fresh seasonal ingredients–nothing complicated, just light and refreshing goodness.
In just one trip to the grocery store, I knew immediately what I wanted to accompany the All Natural Gelato–strawberries and mangoes! This topping is similar to salsa, yet can be eaten with any summer dessert.
Strawberry Mango Dessert Topping
- 1 poun strawberries, cleaned, hauled and chopped
- 1 mango, peeled and chopped.
- juice of one lime
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 8 fresh mint leaves, chopped very fine (optional)
Combine all of the ingredients well and refrigerate for at least an hour for the flavors to blend together. Spoon over your favorite summer time dessert.
I served this topping over the All Natural Gelato Purely Vanilla and Peach Mango flavors. I also bought the Sea Salted Caramel, a delicious and light caramel gelato with sea salted caramel truffles. Additional flavors include Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Coffee Chip, Hazelnut, and Mint Chocolate Chip.
We really enjoyed the All Natural Gelato and I appreciate that it is made with real ingredients instead of artificial ones. You can find All Natural Gelato at select retailers wherever Turkey Hill products are sold.
