Raise your hand if you’ve left the house in the morning without eating breakfast?

Raise your hand if you attempted to eat your left foot by 10 am?

5 Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas for Busy Weekday Mornings

Weekday mornings can be very hectic. I get it. Especially the beginning of the school year when we’re all trying to get back into a routine. There have been mornings where my husband and I have raced out of the house without eating. But that’s no way to live and I definitely can’t send my kids to school without eating a breakfast.

We ALL need to eat a breakfast and these 5 make ahead ideas are hearty enough to get you through the morning.

5 Hearty and Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

1. Egg & Sausage Burritos

This is an easy freezer recipe. I make a double batch and store them in freezer bags. In the morning, I warm the burritos up in the microwave for a minute or two and that’s it for breakfast prep.

2. Baked Oatmeal

This is my personal favorite breakfast. I make a pan on Sunday night and it will last us about 3 mornings, if all 4 of us eat it for breakfast. Store in the refrigerator and heat your portion in the microwave for a few seconds to warm up. I like to pour a little milk on top of mine.

  • Blueberry & Pecan Baked Oatmeal
  • Banana Walnut Baked Oatmeal
  • Apple Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal

3. Egg & Ham Muffins

I make a batch and then store them in a freezer bag. In the morning, I wrap the muffins in a cloth napkin (or paper towel) and microwave for 15-25 seconds or until the are warmed all the way through.

4. Buttermilk Waffles

This is my grandmother’s recipe. I always make two batches and store in freezer bags. In the morning, I pop them in the toaster. I like the crunchiness from the toaster, but if you prefer, you could heat in the microwave. Serve with fresh fruit.

5. Pancakes

Like the waffles, I make a double batch and store in freezer bags. In the mornings, I pop in the toaster. I like to serve with fresh fruit.

  • Chocolate Chip Pancakes – you can replace the chips with blueberries.
  • Banana Nut Pancakes

Got extra time in the morning? Additional breakfast ideas:

  • Hot oatmeal – It only takes a few minutes to make hot oatmeal, but it really isn’t a make ahead breakfast.
  • Ham & Pepper Skillet Frittata

What’s your favorite breakfast idea? Please share with us in the comments.

I don’t have a vacuum sealer, so I don’t know how it works. You could try one to test it.
