I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. We had a beautiful and delicious day. My oldest daughter and I started our morning with the Turkey Trot 5k. The weather on Thursday was perfect. It was sunny and in the low 60’s.

We spent the rest of the day with my extended family and after Thanksgiving dinner I browsed the sales circulars and decided that I would venture out around mid-morning on Friday . Since the stores were going to be open all night I figured they wouldn’t be as busy at mid-morning. One of my daughters desperately needed new sneakers and I thought it would be a good time to shop for our “adopted family”.

Our first stop was Kohl’s for the sneakers and when we saw that the check-out line looped all around the store, we turned around and left. The sneakers could wait. After Kohl’s, we went to Target where there were no lines and we were able to find everything on the list. I do like to shop online, but we were shopping for our “adopted family” and my kids like to participate. They were a big help except when they were arguing over who was picking out the girl gifts and who was picking out the boy gifts. Once we got that settled, we cruised through the store. We were done in an hour and home by noon.

When we got home, we ate a quick lunch and then took a trip to the Christmas tree farm. We have a pre-lit tree in our attic that we used for years, but last year we decided to change up our tradition and I don’t think our girls will let us use the fake tree ever again.  And I have to agree, the Fraser Fir tree is beautiful and smells so good.

We unloaded the tree into our garage, grabbed the dog, and went for a hike. Tree decorating could wait until Saturday when it was going to be rainy, the weather on Friday was too beautiful to stay inside.

We needed to take advantage of sunny and low 60’s in November

I swear the dog did NOT eat the other hikers.

The strenuous hike, fresh air, and breathtaking view were just what this family needed.

Family days are becoming more rare as my kids get older. My oldest daughter had a swim practice scheduled for Friday evening, but on our way home from our hike we decided it was best to not go and instead continue our family time at home with dinner and our favorite TV show, Shark Tank.

We declared it the best Black Friday ever!
