Welcome to Family Balance Sheet!
I’m Kristia. I’m a home cook, half-marathon runner, and a small business owner. I live in central PA with my husband, two teenage daughters, and one spoiled dog.
I’m also a former corporate girl who went from managing millions of dollars for a large company to managing (much less) in my home. At Family Balance Sheet, you’ll find personal stories, practical tips, and delicious recipes to help you and your busy family live well on less, create a peaceful home, and live a happy life.
Why the name, Family Balance Sheet?
My husband and I are self-employed small business owners. Our income fluctuates. We have had amazing years and we have had really scary years. The amazing years are SOOO much better.
My corporate background is in Retail Buying, but in 2003, I left my career to join my husband in running his business. The plan was for me to use my corporate skills to help grow his business. In 2005 after the birth of our first daughter, we made the joint decision that I would be a stay-at-home mom. I would continue to assist with the bookkeeping/financial areas of our business, but I could do it from our home computer.
Since the beginning of our marriage, I took on the role of Family Office Manager. I enjoy crunching numbers and I needed a way to communicate our financial snapshot to my husband, so I devised an excel spreadsheet that I called our Balance Sheet. After the birth of our second daughter in 2008, I discovered the “mommy blogs” of those early years, and voila, FamilyBalanceSheet.org was born!
You can read more about the Family Balance Sheet and a FREE offer of the excel spreadsheet here.
