Today is Day 14 and I’m recapping the week’s menu and my shopping trips.
This Week’s Dinners:
Sunday: We went to our favorite local pizza/sub shop for lunch with my parents and grandmother. We all brought home leftovers and that’s what we ate for dinner.
Monday: I had Ham & Bean soup in the freezer and I served it with grilled cheese sandwiches.
Tuesday: Easy Lasagna, spinach & strawberry salad, garlic bread.
Wednesday: When I was planning this week’s menu, I knew that I would be working an unusually late night, so I planned the lasagna for Tuesday knowing that it would cover us for two dinners. Leftover lasagna, salad.
Thursday: Roasted Chicken Thighs, corn on the cob, spinach & strawberry salad, watermelon
Friday: Turkey burgers, french fries, steamed broccoli, watermelon
Saturday: I batch cooked taco meat a few weeks ago and stored in the freezer. I’m using a portion to make nachos for dinner, along with watermelon.
This week’s breakfasts, lunches, and snacks:
For breakfast we ate cereal, frozen waffles, eggs & bagels. Lunches and snacks included turkey & cheese sandwiches, apples, oranges, cheese sticks, yogurt sticks, chips & salsa.
This week’s shopping trips:
I made one major shopping trip this week that cost me $93.82 (photo below). I also made one side trip at a different store for a gallon of organic milk that was on sale for the great price of $3.99. Total spent this week $97.81.
Some notes from this week’s shopping trips. My big shopping trip this week was at Giant Food Stores. They have been promoting their store brands with Buy a National brand and Get the Giant brand version for FREE. I took advantage of this week’s frozen waffles, syrup, and Raisin Bran promotions. I don’t normally frozen waffles, but the national brand was on sale and the Giant brand was free, and I had two happy kids who love frozen waffles.
Giant also had a really low price on the seedless watermelon. It is too early in the season for such produce. It was ok, but not great, and I should have known better.
