How I Saved this Week:

  1. I picked up my free turkey that I earned at Giant. On top of getting the turkey for free, I also received $1 cash reward at Snap by Groupon app–my referral link.
  2. A neighbor gave me several green peppers back in September, so I chopped them all up and put them in a freezer bag. I used those chopped peppers in Monday nights dinner.
  3. I found two packages of sausages marked down 50% off.

What We Ate this Week on our Budget

Every week I share what we ate on our budget. Our montly grocery budget for my family of 4 is $500.

This Week’s Dinners:

Saturday: Easy Homemade Lasagna, steamed vegetables, Cheap, but Tasty Garlic Bread

Sunday: leftover lasagna and other various leftovers hanging out in the fridge.

Monday: Cajun Red Beans & Rice.

Tuesday: Broccoli Cheese and Potato Soup from SkinnyTaste. I altered the recipe slightly by using 2% milk in lieu of fat free, and I used Cheddar Jack cheese instead of the Parmesan, Cheddar, and American that the recipe calls for. The soup was delicious.

Wednesday: Slow cooker Pesto Ranch Chicken Thighs, mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables. We love this chicken recipe from Picky Palate.

Thursday: We ate the leftovers from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Friday:

This Week’s Breakfasts, Lunches, and Snacks:

Breakfasts included eggs & toast, and cereal & bananas. Lunches and snacks included some leftovers, egg sandwiches, soup, apples, oranges, pretzels, and popcorn.
