What We Ate this Week on our Budget

Every week I share what we ate for the week on our budget. Our current monthly grocery budget for my family of 4 is $500.

This Week’s Dinners:

Saturday: I cooked a large spiral ham that I bought during the Pre-Easter sale. I also made potatoes and a steamed vegetable. We used the ham to make sandwiches a few days this week and I chopped up enough for two more dinners, along with Sunday’s nights soup.

Sunday: I took the ham bone from Saturday and some of the leftover ham and made a big batch o ham & bean soup. I let it simmer all afternoon. It was delicious. I stuck the leftover soup in the freezer.

Monday: Lemon Asparagus Pasta with Chicken – I found this recipe on Pinterest. My family enjoyed it and it was pretty simple to make.

Tuesday: We went out to dinner to celebrate a family member’s birthday.

Wednesday: Cheesy Broccoli Rice with Ham from Buns in my Oven. I used leftover ham from Sunday and made what turned out to my kids’ new favorite dinner. It really is tasty and also very easy to make.

Thursday: I grilled sausages and served with Pierogies, steamed vegetables, and homemade sugar-free applesauce.

Friday: It’s been a long week, so I’m throwing a frozen pizza in the oven and calling it a day. I’ll serve apple slices too.

This Week’s Breakfasts, Lunches, and Snacks:

Breakfasts this week included eggs & bagels, cereal, and green smoothies. Lunches and snacks included ham & cheese sandwiches, leftovers, apples, carrots, tortilla chips & salsa.

Did you try a new dish this week that your family enjoyed?
