Where we found EXTRA money in March

Finding extra money is a game for me. Over the years, I have found money through rebates, refunds, online sales, and even the ground. Yep, I found a $20 bill while running on the beach!

I have used the extra money to pay off debt, fund family trips, or build up our Christmas savings.

January and February were stellar months with finding money. I found $1681 and $3433.68, respectively.

Was I as successful in March…

My total of found money in March: $747

…No, unfortunately, March was not as good, however, $747 isn’t awful either. A month like February might not happen again, because I scored a huge refund that took 13 months to receive. One can be hopeful…lol

Aflac Reimbursement: $365

Ouch! At least my toes look cute!

We’ve had an Aflac Accident plan for many years and have never needed it until the fall of 2020 when we used it twice. This reimbursement is from a foot injury I sustained while running back in September. This money will be put in our Medical Out-of-Pocket budget category.

Plasma earnings: $207

I donated plasma 5 times in March which is short of my goal of 8 times. I usually donate on Friday and Sunday mornings and I missed a few days due to schedule conflicts. This money is purely from donation earnings and equates to about $27.60 an hour. I calculate the per-hour rate from my plasma donations to make sure it’s a good use of my time. While I’m donating, I listen to podcasts, go through emails, and surf YouTube on Friday mornings, and on Sunday mornings, I try to listen to our church service that is live-streamed.

I’m saving my plasma money for summer trips and activities.

If you’d like information on donating plasma, read my review of donating plasma HERE.

Credit Card Cash Back: $175

I redeemed $175 for gift cards from our business credit card’s cashback program. We use this credit card for almost all of our business expenses and we pay it off every month. These points accrued over many months and are a nice perk since our business expenses are much higher than our personal. I save them up to redeem a larger amount and I chose a $100 Target gift card to purchase some gifts and household needs and a $75 restaurant gift card as a special treat.

Where did you find extra money in March? Share your findings in the comments.

Found Money Recap:

  • January 2021 – I found $1681
  • February 2021 – I found $3433.68
