Are you an ALDI shopper? I pulled together a list of ALDI soup ideas using ingredients I found at the store. These family favorites are hearty, tasty, and easy on your grocery budget.
A few details about this list of ALDI Soup Ideas:
** I planned these soups around my family of 4, which includes 2 adults, 1 teenager, and 1 tween–both of my girls eat as much as adults. Any leftover soups can be served as leftovers or frozen in freezer containers.
** I listed the price I paid for the main ingredients. I didn’t list a price for pantry staples, such as seasonings, cooking oils, butter. I had those things on hand and you might as well. Review the ingredient list carefully to determine what you need to buy.
** To accompany the soups. I served a salad and Take and Bake bread. I can make a big salad from ALDI ingredients for around $7, depending on our favorites available. You can find Take and Bake Italian loaf ($1.99) or french baguette ($1.19) in the bread aisle.
** Prices may vary by region and some prices may have been the sale price.
** I make homemade bone stock quite often, but for the sake of this post, I bought ALDI chicken and vegetables broths. ALDI has several options of organic and non-organic. I chose to use organic, but if you want to save a few cents, the non-organic will work just fine.
** When it comes to ALDI, you improvise. I’ve found that they don’t always have exactly what I need, but they usually have great substitutions. Case in point, recipe #3 called for diced Italian tomatoes, I found Crushed and Diced Basil and Oregano Tomatoes. They weren’t as chunky, but they worked just fine. Also, recipe #4 called for small pasta, but the smallest I could find was medium-sized shells. They worked just fine. All of these recipes are very flexible.
** And finally, the before photos below might not include all of the ingredients, but I assure you that all of the ingredients that I used for these soups were from ALDI.

- chicken broth or stock: I used the organic ALDI brand 48 oz value box $2.15
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

ALDI Soup Ideas #2: Easy Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients Needed:
- 1 onion
- garlic

- 2 celery stalks
- bay leaf – This is a pantry staple in my kitchen. However, I could not find it at ALDI.
- Italian Seasoning – This is also a pantry staple. I found it at ALDI, but did not notate the price.
- Chicken Stock – I used 2 (48 oz) value boxes of organic stock. $2.15/box.
- egg noodles – I used half of the bag in this recipe. $1.09 for 16 oz bag.
- 2 cups shredded or diced cooked chicken. See Instructions below.
- salt and pepper

ALDI Soup Ideas #3: Tortellini & Spinach Soup
Ingredients:
- tortellini – The recipe calls for 1 bag of frozen tortellini, but as I mentioned above, you don’t always find what you’re looking for at ALDI. However, there are usually substitutions that work just fine. Case in point, instead of frozen tortellini, I found dried small ravioli $1.49/package, and refrigerated tortellini $1.99/package that would make fine substitutions.
- fresh spinach – You can use the other half of the package from recipe #1.
- Italian style diced tomatoes – The recipe calls for 2 cans, but I could not find any diced tomatoes. However, I did find crushed and diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano. It has a smoother consistency than plain diced tomatoes, but the flavor was very good.
- vegetable stock, $1.45 for 32 oz box
- 1 box of fresh mushrooms, $1.99
- cream cheese, .79
- The recipes calls for the optional ingredient of canned shrimp. If you can find this in ALDI, great, but I couldn’t and the soup is just fine without the canned shrimp.
Instructions:
- Find the recipe here: Tortellini & Spinach Soup
- Topping suggestions: croutons, oyster crackers, shredded cheese, sour cream.
- Serve with Bake and Take bread and a salad.

- 8 oz can of tomato sauce, .25 can
- small pasta – The recipe calls for 1 cup of small pasta, however, the smallest I could find was the medium shells (in the picture) $1.09. I used 2 cups of the dried shells and thinned it out with leftover stock from recipe #6.
- grated Parmesan cheese, $1.99
- 2 (15 oz) cans of white beans, .58/can.
Instructions:
- Find the recipe here: Pasta e Fagioli

# 6: Potato Soup

- heavy cream, $1.33. Recipe only uses 1/2 cup. Use the leftover cream to make Homemade Whipped Cream to top your favorite dessert.
- grated cheese – I used cheddar.
- Cajun Spice – The recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon of cajun spice. I make this homemade cajun spice recipe and store in a small jar. I use it for my Cajun Red Beans and Rice. If you don’t have cajun spice, I don’t think you’ll miss it.
- flour, salt, pepper
Instructions:
- I used Pioneer Woman’s Perfect Potato Soup recipe.
- Topping suggestions: crumbled bacon pieces, croutons, oyster crackers, shredded cheese, sour cream.

#7: Butternut Squash Soup
Ingredients:
- 1 butternut squash, .59/lb. The cost of the squash I bought came to $1.49.
- onion, chopped
- 5-6 cups vegetable stock – I used one (32 oz) box, + half of another 32 oz box. The balance of this box could be added to the tortellini soup above, or you can freeze it for later use. You could also use chicken stock. Flavor will be slightly different though.

- I used a hand blender to puree smooth. You could also try a potato masher or blender.
- Topping suggestions: croutons, oyster crackers, pumpkin seed.
